India a land of Surprises.
In a mud hut this poised young women is weaving a man’s cloth on the banks of the Brahmaputra river. She greets us enthuastically and is happy to show us her loom and weaving. One of the joys of travelling from Kolkata on a boat belonging to the Assam Bengal Navigation Co is that you are avoiding the road traffic and visiting small villages which are remote and only accessible via boat so the people are not “ tourist attractions” but are going about their day to day lives.
We spend time chatting and walking around the village, and no souvenir sellers to hassle us!
